Currently in the bank we have a surplus of $ 2951.77. This is before we purchased anything for the 2001 season.
Teams for 2001
All teams are back and the season starts Tues. May 22nd
Entrance Fee
Because of our surplus the team entrance fee for 2001 is set at $ 860.00 This will also cover your complete team for insurance.
Umpires
We will be using SPN Umpires again this year.
Team Rosters
Must be in by June 15th 2001. If a team drops below 12 regulars you are allowed to pick up extra players until July 30th after that the rosters are frozen.
Balls Being Used
Worth Gold Dot is the official ball. You can use up the Spalding balls that we used last year until they are gone.
Playoff Format
Will be changing this year....the Round Robin 1st round will be completed on a weekend shortly into September. From that weekend 4 teams will cross over and play the best 3 of 5. The finals will be the best 4 of 7. By doing this the season should be shorter in September and hopefully the weather will still be good.
9:00 Games
We have been assured by the SPN Umpires that the Women's last game of their double header will be finished by 9:00. They will call the women's game if it is not completed by then.
Team Sizes
Maximum of 20 players consisting of up to 15 regulars and 5 spare or combinations there of.
Age Limit
All players MUST be 35 by the end of the 2001 baseball season. If you have an illegal player you MUST have your team rep. announce it to the Executive so they can vote on whether that player is allowed to play in our league. You may be asked by the opposing team to show a Driver's License of the questioned player. If he does not have it with him he doesn,t play that night ! If your team is caught with an illegal player the Executive will be informed and a decision will be made with penalty for your team.

Rule Changes
1) You must have a minimum of 7 players to play and the other team can supply a catcher.
2) All bags MUST be tied down. This is for insurance reasons.
3) Pitching is from 50' to 60' to protect the pitchers. This is an SPN rule.
4) Pinch Runners .... A pinch runner no longer needs to be the last out ....It can be anybody on your team. If that player is standing on base when it is his turn to bat you may sub another pinch runner in.
5) Home Run Rule .... We are now using a 2 Home Run Rule ...No team can have more than 2 Home Runs over another team in one game. example ...if your team hits 2 HR's then the next HR you hit will be a ground rule double ( 2 bases). If the other team hits 1 HR then you are allowed to hit 1 more HR as a team. Basically you cannot have more than 2 HR difference in a game. SPN will be using this rule in their tournaments.
Remember . . . A Home Run is a Home Run no matter what ! !

We as a league will be actively advertising in the local paper for new players to fill some holes on the Teachers / Welding / Eagle's teams. If you know of anybody please contact one of the above teams. We will give this experiment a 2 week time frame and then we will make decisions on the future of some teams.
